Depeche does Dublin
It was just a question of time

Monday June 26th. I knew something was up and it couldn't possibly have been my Mum's birthday (still looking good Mum!)... Point Theatre, 8:45 PM. About five thousand in the audience and five peculiar looking blokes on stage: Dave -does my bum look big in this tattoo - Gahan, Martin -just when you thought my attire couldn't get more silly- Gore, Andy -look Mum, I got to be in a rockband- Fletcher, Christian -I bet VIshnu couldn't play this drumsolo- Eigner and Peter -every band needs a fat, ugly guy- Gordeno. From the first bar of A pain that I'm used to until the last notes of Never let me down, they absolutely, positively fecking rocked. Sound was awsome, croud was, well, I guess Irish would be the best word to describe it... Highlights? What about Stripped (the song, not necessarily Dave), Behind the wheel, Nothing's impossible, John the Revelator, an accoustic Leave in silence and the first DM-song ever to be recorded Photographic... Mr BO-I'm such a goody two shoes-NO ridiculed in his own backyard!

To say it with the words of the best songwriter of his generation (and all times worst front man) Martin Lee Gore:

And I thank you
For bringing me here
For showing me home
For singing these tears
Finally Ive found that I belong
Feels like home
I should have known
From my first breath

I have to admit that it was pretty damn good. The worst thing was a sweat dripping bloke from Ghent jumping next to me "singing" along every word. Thank God for loud music & standing close to the speakers ...

@ spm: that bloke from Ghent can be very present indeed :) but hey, that's one of the reasons why he's him. That's one of the reasons why he's a friend.
